The Candle Cage takes its name from the vertical brass bar cylinder that encloses its candle-style bulbs in an open cage construction, the clear glass panels between each bar allowing the internal light sources to be seen directly rather than diffused behind frosted glass. In a drawing room, living room, conference room, office, or hotel, this fitting reads as a ceremonial wall lantern whose visible internal flame reference gives it a warmth that enclosed diffused fittings cannot replicate.

The brass aluminium vertical bars run the full length of the cylinder body, their spacing allowing unobstructed views of the candle-style bulbs within. The cylinder is framed at crown and base by decorative engraved collar bands whose fine repeated motif reinforces the fitting's heritage register, and the conical cap above the upper collar narrows to the hook connection point where a scrolled double-hook bracket suspends the cylinder from the rectangular brass wall plate. The ornate scroll terminals of the bracket arm extend above the cap, giving the fitting's upper profile a decorative flourish that adds height and vertical presence to the composition. A scroll-terminal foot piece at the cylinder's base mirrors the bracket's curvilinear language to close the composition with matched detail.

Through the clear glass panels, the candle-style bulbs emit warm direct light outward at multiple angles, their exposed filaments contributing a warm amber glow that fills the immediate room zone with direct and reflected light simultaneously. The vertical bars cast fine repeated shadow lines on the wall behind the fitting, a secondary light graphic that reinforces the fitting's lantern character after dark.
