Why is geometry often used in chandelier design?

Frosted glass is what gives the Fenêtre its unique diffusing quality – & it's not hard to figure out why. Basically, when you roughen up the surface with acid etching or sandblasting, it scatters the light rather than bouncing it right back at you like it would with clear or polished glass. But with a multi-tiered fixture like this - where you're dealing with nine levels of glass stacked on top of each other - that diffusion compounds & just gets more & more soft & warm as you go down. It's genuinely impossible to get this kind of effect with anything else.

What's the minimum ceiling height I need for this nine-tiered CX1905 to fit?

Because this thing is a beast – & I mean vertically – we need at least 16 feet of clearance to get it in. Ideally, you'll want 18 to 24 feet of ceiling height in a duplex or hotel lobby - & make sure that the tapered bit at the bottom is at least 8 feet off the floor. And if you're planning on installing this in a high-traffic area, you really should get a structural engineer to take a look.

How do I get the right size for my room?

The thing is, this fixture is more about the ceiling height than the room width – so as long as you keep it to a third of your shortest wall, you should be fine. For staircases, it's easier to just centre it over the stairwell & size up to the width of the well, rather than the entire room.

How does this fit in with vintage or heritage interiors?

To be honest, it's right on trend. The black iron & frosted glass are straight out of an old Art Deco chandelier – so if you're in a heritage hotel or a classic drawing room, it'll just sort of blend in & become part of the space. The brass ceiling rose just adds to the vintage vibe without being overwhelming.
