The Mitre takes its name from the angled joint where two materials meet at a precise diagonal, the term drawn from the woodworking and masonry cut that joins two surfaces at equal opposing angles. In a study, bedroom, drawing room, hotel, or office, the rectangular base reads as a composed geometric object, its white veined marble and polished gold iron panels divided by a diagonal that runs from corner to corner with deliberate exactness.

The marble panels carry natural grey veining across a white ground, their polished surface bringing mineral depth to the base's flat faces. The gold iron panels meet the marble at the diagonal boundary with a clean, uninterrupted edge, the contrast between stone surface texture and metal reflectivity sharpest at this junction. A gold brass band runs along the rectangular cloth shade's lower inner rim, extending the base's gold material language upward into the shade construction.
