The Solenne CX1906 stacks four half-bowl tiers of twisted, iron-framed glass rods - each one curving upwards at the rim in a sort of frozen, gilded reed-like motion. That twist isn't just a fancy design touch - it actually ramps up the surface area catching light, turning each rod into a continuous, warm amber filament rather than just a plain old bar. Suspended from fine wires by a circular chrome ceiling plate, the tiers seem to float on their own - separated by dark pockets of nothing that make each level look like its own composition in its own right. Without power, the glass just looks like fancy sculptural latticework - architectural, restrained and precise. They were developed as a way to trap air and colour within the glass itself while the molten rod was still cooling down. Each tier needs a bit of space to shine on its own - if the ceiling isn't high enough, it just gets a bit squished and the whole rhythm of the thing gets lost. Just check with Lumeil's tech team to make sure you've got the right drop length for your space.

How do I size the circular chrome ceiling plate, and can it even hold downlights?

The plate is actually designed to hold downlights that shine up on the tiers from underneath - and that's a deliberate design choice that really brings out the best in that twisted glass. The plate itself is pretty big, and it's got a diameter that's matched to the spread of the fixture. If you're planning to use a recessed or coffered ceiling, just make sure to check the depth of the canopy beforehand - and get a licensed electrician to check the load too, since the multi-tier suspension system can be a bit tricky.
