The Twin Column takes its name from the two crystal rod cylinders that stack vertically on its curved brass iron back plate, each cylinder constructed from clear crystal rods arranged in a tight circular formation whose prismatic faces refract and multiply the light from the exposed bulb at each cylinder's centre. In a drawing room, living room, bedroom, office, hotel, or dining area, this fitting reads as a precision-constructed light object whose crystal rod cylinders carry an opulent material register distinct from both glass globe and fabric shade fittings.
The curved brass back plate follows a gentle vertical arc that lifts the plate's edges away from the wall surface, its polished gold finish reinforcing the crystal rods' warm output with a reflective backing that returns ambient light into the room. Brass collar rings at the crown and base of each cylinder frame the crystal rod formation with clean horizontal terminations, and a short brass post connects the two cylinders at the mid-section, the post's minimal diameter keeping the visual gap between the columns open and unobstructed. The overall composition reads as a single unified vertical element from a distance, the two cylinders resolving into a stacked double form only at closer viewing range.
Through each crystal cylinder simultaneously, the exposed bulb source refracts outward through every crystal rod face, producing a highly directional multi-point light output that radiates outward, upward, and downward simultaneously from each cylinder position. The prismatic refraction across the crystal rod surfaces creates a warm scattered light field across the surrounding wall and room zone that shifts as the viewer moves relative to the fitting.
