Is Abacus Rail long enough for an eight seater table? At 1220mm it covers most of a 1.8m table top, leaving about 290mm clear at each end. Measure your table before ordering.
Are the bulbs included? No. Each globe has a G9 holder, so you will need five G9 bulbs. Please confirm the maximum wattage with us before buying.
Can it hang off-centre from my ceiling point? The rail hangs directly below its rectangular ceiling plate, so the plate position sets the rail position. Ask your electrician if the point needs moving.
Will the coloured beads tint the light? No. The light comes from the opal globes below the rail, while the pink and blue beads above act as decoration.
Did You Know Fact About The CategoryThe Chinese suanpan, described in detail by the late 16th century, carries two beads above its dividing beam and five below on every rod. Japan later adapted it into the soroban, trimming each rod to one upper and four lower beads to match base-ten counting exactly. Trained soroban users learn to picture the frame in their heads and can add long columns of figures mentally at remarkable speed.

A statement piece for contemporary and traditional rooms alike, built from materials chosen to last.

Abacus Rail takes its name from the way it is built: a gold rail threaded with upright rods, each carrying ribbed glass beads like the counters of an abacus. Five opal globes hang below, so this linear chandelier reads as one measured line over a dining table, kitchen island or restaurant bar.

Gold-finish metal forms the ceiling plate, the rail, the rods and the small spacer beads between each glass bead. The ribbed glass beads alternate pink and soft blue along the rail, and two more cap its ends. This glass bead pendant measures 1220mm long, 150mm wide and 450mm in fitted height.

Each opal globe takes a G9 bulb and spreads it into an even, rounded glow without side glare. Because the globes vary in size, the line of light rises and falls along its length. Over a six or eight seater, it works as a dining table light.
