Is it a good size for a hallway?Yes, at 320mm high and 180mm wide it sits neatly on hallway and landing walls without projecting too far.
Can the shade be removed to clean? The shade rests in the brass cradle; check with your retailer whether it lifts out before trying, and otherwise dust it in place.
Will it work in a modern classic scheme?Yes, the simple stem and trimmed shade balance traditional and contemporary styles, suiting neutral walls and mixed furniture.
Is the light directed down the wall? Most light leaves through the open base, washing the wall below, with a gentler glow through the shade and a little uplight above.
Did You Know Fact About The CategoryNewton's cradle, the desk toy of swinging steel balls, was named after Isaac Newton because it demonstrates conservation of momentum and energy. The design was popularised in 1967 by English actor Simon Prebble, who sold wooden versions through Harrods.

A curved brass arc cradles the base of a tapered fabric shade in The Cradle, holding it above a slim stem and round wall plate. It suits a Bed Room, a Living Room, a Staircase, a Drawing Room and Hotels.
Metal in antique brass forms the wall plate, stem and cradle arc, and the shade is fabric with dark trim at top and bottom. It measures 320mm high and 180mm wide, with one E27 holder.
Light shines down through the open base onto the wall below, while the shade glows through its fabric and the brass arc catches a warm edge.
