Does the rod below the wall plate need extra clearance?Yes, the rod extends below the plate, so leave room beneath it when placing the light above a desk, sideboard or bedside table.
How often should the shade be dusted?Every week or two keeps it fresh and stops dust dulling the light. A soft brush works best; avoid liquids on the shade.
Where does it look best in a room?The tall rod draws the eye upward, so it looks best on a clear stretch of wall, beside an armchair or flanking a bed. It also suits a study wall where a floor lamp would take up space.
Is it bright enough for a home office?It is an ambient light rather than a task light, so pair it with a desk lamp for close work. Output depends on the E27 bulb you choose.

A long, slim brass rod running past its wall plate gives The Reed its upright, reed-like line, crowned by a generous tapered shade. Choose it for an Office or Living Room wall, a Drawing Room, a Bed Room, or guest rooms in Hotels.
Made from metal and glass, it pairs an antique brass rod and round wall plate with a pale shade finished in a gently scalloped rim. It is 500mm tall and 240mm wide and fitted for one E27 bulb.
The shade diffuses the bulb into a calm, even light, some of it running down the wall along the rod and some rising toward the ceiling.
