Does the coloured glass on the stem light up?No. The light comes from the six opal globes, and the coffee and green glass on the stem catch that light rather than glowing from inside.
Can Gilt Orrery hang over a dining table?Yes. At 460mm across it suits a round or square table for four to six. Hang it so the gold tip clears the table top by about 750mm.
Can the arms be adjusted?Arm adjustment is not confirmed for this fitting, so please check with us before ordering if you need a different arrangement.
How do I reach the bulbs?Switch off, let it cool, then remove the opal globe to reach the G4 holder. Please confirm how the globes detach with us before the first change.
Did You Know Fact About The CategoryThe orrery is named after Charles Boyle, 4th Earl of Orrery, for whom the instrument maker John Rowley built a copy of a planetary model by George Graham around 1713. Turned by a handle, its gears carried the planets around the Sun at their relative speeds. Orreries soon became fashionable teaching pieces in 18th-century drawing rooms and public lecture halls.

Gilt Orrery takes its name from the clockwork models of the solar system: six opal globes circle a single gold axis, set at different heights like planets on their arms. This modern chandelier suits a living room, a dining area, a double-height hall or a hotel lounge.
The axis is gold-finish metal, threaded with textured coffee glass above and below, two faceted green glass discs at the hub and a clear glass bead. Six short gold arms carry the globes outward, and a pointed gold finial ends the stem. This glass globe chandelier is 460mm across and 990mm in fitted height.
Each globe holds a G4 bulb behind opal glass, so the six points give soft, even light in every direction rather than one beam. Over a coffee table or in a tall stairwell, it works as a living room chandelier with a clear vertical line.
