Which way does the arm mount? The swan-neck arm curves up from the backplate and over the lantern, as pictured, so allow space above the wiring point as well as below. Plan for the full 350mm height when choosing the position.
Can the bulb be reached without taking the lantern down?Access varies by design, so check with your retailer how the lantern opens before installing it. Knowing this upfront makes bulb changes simpler later.
Does it suit a heritage-style entrance hall?Yes, coach-lantern shapes are at home in hallways, foyers and staircases with traditional detailing. It pairs well with panelled walls, dark wood and patterned floors.
Does the frame cast shadows?Yes, the brass glazing bars break the light into fine lines on the surrounding wall, adding pattern after dark. A small globe or candle-style bulb keeps the effect crisp.
Did You Know Fact About The CategoryBefore street lighting, horse-drawn coaches carried lanterns on each side of the driver's seat so they could be seen at night, usually burning candles or oil behind glass. Their hooded tops, glazed sides and bracket arms were later copied for wall lanterns on houses, which is why the style is still called a coach light.

Curving up and over from its backplate, a swan-neck arm suspends a six-sided brass lantern, giving The Swan Neck the look of a traditional coach lamp. Restaurants, Hotels, a Staircase, the Drawing Room and a Dining Area all suit its heritage character.

Every part is metal in antique brass: the scrolled arm, the crown with its finial, and the frame holding clear glass panels. The lantern measures 180mm across and 350mm high, around one E27 holder.

The clear glass leaves the bulb on show, so the lamp shines like a candle in a lantern, and the brass frame casts fine lines of shadow across the wall behind.
