Cage Lantern

Cage Lantern takes its name from the diagonal brass cross-strap cage that encloses its frosted glass cylinder, four pairs of diagonal bars crossing at the cylinder's mid-section and meeting at polished brass rosette medallions whose flower-face detail marks each crossing point. In a drawing room, living room, conference room, office, or hotel, this fitting reads as a ceremonial wall object whose accumulated ornamental detail, from the egg-and-dart collar at the cylinder's crown to the scrolled bracket arm above and the decorative foot piece below, places it in the tradition of grand interior lantern design.

The conical brass cap above the collar narrows to the bracket connection point, the cone's profile referencing the snuffer caps of historical candle lanterns. The scrolled brass bracket arm curves outward from a rectangular brass wall plate, its twin scroll terminals visible above the cap and giving the fitting a deliberate vertical extension that adds presence above the illuminated cylinder body. The decorative brass foot piece at the cylinder's base carries small scroll terminals that echo the bracket's curvilinear language, giving the composition resolved ornamental continuity from bracket tip to base.

Through the frosted glass cylinder, the internal light source diffuses into an even warm omnidirectional glow that radiates outward through the glass body and between the diagonal cage bars, casting a warm-toned ambient light across the surrounding wall zone. The diagonal bars cast a faint shadow pattern on the wall behind the fitting that shifts with viewing angle, adding a secondary light graphic to the fitting's immediate wall zone.
