Can the open rib frame be cleaned without risk of bending individual ribs?The ribs are fixed at both the base plate and the crown collar and hold their curved form under normal handling. The Open Amphora takes its name from the classical two-handled storage vessel whose silhouette it traces in polished rose gold iron ribs, a form widening at the shoulder before tapering to a narrow waist and flaring again toward the circular base. In a study, bedroom, drawing room, hotel, or office, this base reads as a sculptural object whose open construction reveals the lamp's interior depth and changes character with every shift in ambient light.
The polished rose gold iron ribs catch and reflect light independently along their curved length, each rib contributing its own highlight line to the overall composition as room lighting changes direction. The negative space between ribs is as considered as the metal itself, allowing the surface behind the lamp to remain partially visible through the frame and giving the base a visual lightness that contradicts its material weight. The black cloth drum shade above sits in deliberate contrast to the warm rose gold below, its opacity anchoring the composition at the crown.
Through the black cloth shade, light output is contained and directed downward and outward rather than upward, concentrating warm illumination across the desk surface, bedside table, or drawing room console below. The shade's dark exterior keeps the lamp's upper profile dramatic while the interior reflects the bulb's warmth downward into the immediate surface zone.
