The Pivot Disc takes its name from the frosted glass disc that sits at the intersection of the lamp's brass cross-arm, a circular diffuser mounted at the mid-point of a horizontal iron bar that extends symmetrically to either side with a cylindrical terminal on the right and a bare post end on the left. In a study, bedroom, drawing room, hotel, or office, this lamp reads as a resolved spatial composition whose every element, the arc, the vertical post, the cross-arm, and the disc, holds a considered positional relationship to the others.
The brushed brass iron frame carries a consistent warm finish across the arc, vertical post, cross-arm, and cylindrical base, the brushed grain unifying the assembly's multiple geometric elements into a single material voice. The frosted glass disc sits flush against the cross-arm's central fitting, its white diffusing surface angled slightly off-perpendicular to the vertical post, introducing a tilt that prevents the composition from reading as a static technical diagram and gives it the quality of an instrument mid-adjustment. The cylindrical brass base below grounds the vertical post with sufficient weight to counterbalance the arc's lateral reach.
Through the frosted glass disc, the bulb's output disperses forward as a broad soft wash of light directed toward the desk surface, bedside table, or drawing room console in front of the lamp. The disc's off-axis tilt adjusts the precise angle of this forward wash, making the lamp's light output directionally considered rather than omnidirectional.
